Messages From Belize Team To Home

Date and Time Posted: Saturday May 19, 2007 - 10:06:38 pm

You cannot know how much we apreciate all the hard work that this team did while here at Uriah. I am sure that God is well pleased with each of them. As for me, I already miss them and look forward to seeing them again when God allows. From the oldest (Bill) to the youngest (Crystal) they were all a blessing to me, the Uriah staff and the people of Belize. Bless the Lord, oh my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name.

Penny Dail --- Bill is doing fine now. We are watching him closely and making sure he takes the right amount on his medication. He is just enjoying all the fellowship and we are not letting him get too hot. He will be flying back with us on Saturday and should be home around 10:45 pm. His blood pressure just got real low but is ok now. God Bless .....

To Darthula -- Had a wonderful day today. The work went well and we fed all the congregation at Faith Church this afternoon. It was the first feeding in the new dining hall and we fed over 100 people. Guess what we served? Hot Dogs !!!! Just like Darthula. We had a lady saved in our Wednesday night service. Keep praying for us. See you Saturday.

To all those shoebox packers out there! Just had a wonderful testimony about the power of Operation Christmas Child. Jerry Bentley wore one of his Operation Christmas Child T-shirts today and Damaris, the daughter of Faith Church's Spanish pastor and the interpreter for all the American teams who visit Uriah, came up to him and told him that she received shoeboxes when she was a little girl in primary school. She said all the kids would be so excited when the missionaries would show up to pass them out. That OCC shoebox was the only gift she got for Christmas. One year she got a gold necklace and earrings and said she treasured them for years. She wanted to reassure us that the boxes really do go to children who need them. In fact, when she came to visit the States last year, she made one and picked out things at Wal-Mart just like the ones that had meant so much to her to receive. So get ready, gang!! When we get back, we're gonna start packing and adopting!!

To Sam, Brenda, Lindsay ---Sure do miss you guys. We have worked real hard today and boy is it ever HOT. Right now we are putting the lattice on the dining hall. We are almost half way done. Joe, Jerry, and Darrius are laying stone around Jacob's Well. We are using the stones we brought back from the Hiltons Churches and making a cross out of them. It really looks good. We will have to stop in a little while and clean the dining hall for tonight. We are going to feed the church tonight and Frank will be preaching. The church is to be here at 5:00pm for the meal and preaching afterward. Got to go. Love you guys and God Bless... Layton

To Jan:

I just wanted to let you know that Randall is all ok! Just a little saw dust in his eye. He's work'n away now as I type. I'm sure he'll drop you a message after while. Hey by the way, you may want to visit gmail.com and sign up for an account. If you do sign up for an account, email me and let me know your email address so I can add you to the chat list. After you sign up for an account, if you search for, download, and install Google Talk, you can talk with Randall like you were on the phone. All you'll need to be sure to have a microphone and speakers for your computer. Then you're all set. Let me know if you wanna give it a shot. Layton, Jessica, and Rebecca have used it to talk to Brenda. If you want to, get in touch with her and we'll plan a time where you can go to her house and talk with him. Let us know!! talk to ya later, Jeff

Hi Kaleb!! I'm so glad you sent me a message! Yes, it is VERY hot down here! I've never sweated this much in my life! You would love it here. We spent the afternoon passing out rice and beans and goodie bags in a little village called Buena Vista. The kids were so excited to see a team that they chased our bus down the road. I can't wait to show you the pictures. And you would LOVE all the bugs here. Last night we fished a gigantic tarantula out of its hole. Say a prayer for us, and tell your mom I miss my e-mail buddy, too! Love you, Jessica

I think the last picture for Monday has been posted. We'll have plenty of pictures from today as the boards for the wall in the dining hall are going up fast as well as the latice work. I probably mispelled that :-) the well work is moving right along as well. After lunch we're heading out to Buena Vista for handing out food. The ladies are bagging up more food and toys right now. We'll have an update for everyone this evening as well as some pictures. God bless!!

Hi Brenda. We have been busy today working on the dining hall. We went to Spanish Lookout this morning and bought lumber and sising and we have just finished the framing and will start on the siding early in the morning. The girls are having a wonderful time and everyone is doing fine. The food is good and we are so tired when we go to bed, you just drop off to sleep. We all get up at daybreak and start the day. Hug Sam for me and tell him I will bring him a gift. Love you. God Bless....

Hey Angie! Thanks so much for the message, and thanks again for coming to the airport to see us off. It really meant a lot -- and having Sam occupied made leaving a whole lot easier! :-) We're having an awesome time -- heartbreaking, but awesome. The living conditions here are like nothing I've ever seen. I can't wait to tell you all about it. We've been working in the clinic today, just trying to clean it and get everything organized. We also rode into Belmopan, the capital, to get rice and beans to pass out in one of the villages tomorrow. You'll be happy to know I've only had a couple of bug experiences -- so far, anyway. Somehow, they always end up in my bed! :-) Love you, and talk to you soon! Jessica

Hey Lins and Sam! I'm sure you guys are enjoying being bachelors this week, but hope you're missing me just a little bit! How's the work coming on the house? We've had another awesome day here! Randall did a great job preaching this morning. Dad has tonight's message. We've eaten so much since we got here! Evette, Damaris and Rosita are wonderful cooks. I finally got to meet Celina, the little girl we sponsor, this morning. We actually went in her family's house and had prayer with her aunt, who is dying of breast cancer. It would have broken your heart. We spent the afternoon walking through the village and down to Roaring Creek. I don't think I've ever sweated as much as I have the last two days! I love you and miss you both, and hope to hear back from you soon, hint, hint! :-)

I wanted to let everyone know that all of the pictures for Saturday have finally been posted. I'll probably add pictures to each day as the day progresses, so keep checking them out for additionaly pictures. Internet connectivity has been a little slow, so pictures are slower to upload from here, but we will eventually get them all on there each day. See you all soon.

Hey Lindsay and Sam! I sure do miss you guys, but this has been the trip of a lifetime already! God has had his hand on us the whole time. There's so much we're gonna have to tell you about. I can't even begin to describe what this place is like -- the photos and the stories just don't do it justice. Stepping off the plane was like walking into a sauna!! And the poverty is unbelievable. Dirt roads, burning fields everywhere. But at the same time, it's beautiful. The compound is incredible, and the dining hall is awesome!! Boo is feeling a lot better tonight, so we're all relieved. It must be this good Belizian food!! I love you both and hope everything is going well back home. E-mail me at jeff.arrington@gmail.com or post a message and let me know how everything is going, OK? Love you!! Jessica

Greetings from Atlanta! Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a smooth flight from Tri-Cities and are getting ready to board our plane to Belize City. Our flight leaves at 12, and we'll be in Belize City by about 3 p.m. EST. Be sure to check out the photos Jeff has uploaded of our flight from Tri-Cities. We managed to get some shots of a rainbow halo around the shadow of our plane. Sure made us feel a lot better knowing God had us surrounded by his love! We'll update again later this evening!

Hi Glen, I wish you and Virginia were going with us too. Tell all the folks at First Baptist in New Bern NC to keep us in their prayers and God grant us health and safe travel. Hopefully we will finish the dining hall, install internet service at the compound, lay stone around Jacob's Well, and some will work in the clinic. We also plan to feed all the local congregation at Faith church on Wednesday night, visit some of the children that the team sponsor, pass out beans and rice in two villages, and go to Lamanai on Friday. Looks like a full week but and a wonderful week. God Bless!!!!
